I have learned a lot since I started studying Spanish at UCSB in 2022!
In addition to teaching language proficiency, the Spanish major encompasses a diverse range of subjects including linguistics, language and translation, Peninsular Spanish studies, Latin American studies, U.S. Latinx studies, and Indigenous languages and cultures of the Americas.
I had the amazing opportunity to develop my Spanish-speaking abilities while living in Madrid, Spain for a semester.
While in Madrid, I attended the Universidad de Complutense and took classes on Latin American Theater, Modern Spanish Literature, and the Spanish Short Story. Apart from just my studies, I learned a lot about Spanish culture, art, and history through experience.
